August 19, 2003
To all Parent's, Scouts and other
Associates of Troop 206:
A meeting to go over the events planned for Troop 206 for the
year 2003/2004 was held on August 18, 2003 at the home of Alan Z. After everyone cooked
their favorite BBQ item and shared
various potluck items brought for everyone, John N. kicked off the meeting. The
two main topics of discussion included reviewing the annual schedule of events,
as well as the annual budget.
The schedule for the events of the year listed month by month
events starting from September 2003 through August of 2004.
Events on the schedule that was prepared by the scout leadership
included fishing and hiking on approximately 16,000 acres of land belonging to
Mr. Dick L., the annual ski trip, a car camping trip to a cave, Sierra snow
camping, and an archery event. There
will also be Junior Leadership Training scheduled for this September and the
Trinity service project scheduled in May of 2004. Julie D. will investigate the possibility of attending summer
camp up in Oregon. There will be a theme for each month that will be tied into
the troop meetings.
2004 will also mark the 50th anniversary of Troop 206 and there
will be a celebration to mark this event.
The planned fund-raisers for this year will include popcorn
& wreath sales, along with our annual pancake breakfast. The popcorn sales will be used as a
fundraiser for camp credits and wreath and pancake breakfast sales will be put
toward the general troop fund. Pam F. elaborated about the popcorn sales and how
it will start very soon and be very lucrative.
She mentioned how selling it in front of a store, at your church or
in some other place for
approximately 3 hours a day for 3 Saturdays in a row would be a good way to do
it. Pam will coordinate with the senior patrol leader on this idea.
It was also mentioned that we were able to renew our contract
with Sacred Heart and have use of the facilities there for at least one more
year.
The next parents meeting will be
held on Monday, September 8 at 7:30 at Sacred Heart along with the troop meeting.
We will discuss Troop Committee jobs and advancement.
