The meeting kicked off by discussing Troop's 206 50th Anniversary, lead by Bill
A. We will be making various plans over the next twelve months.
Some items of discussion included lining up past uniformed boy and adult
leaders to discuss their experiences with the troop. The estimated cost
for the Food and Beverages should be approximately $100.00 for a light
Reception that will be a part of the event. It is tentatively scheduled
for June 19th or June 20th of 2004 and will be an afternoon event and will
tentatively be held at Trinity Church and Trinity Hall in Menlo Park. We
will be contacting prior scouts via the telephone, using databases, getting
names and other related methods in order to prepare for the event.
Volunteers for the 50th Anniversary included
Frances R, Hana A, Paul R, Chi M, Mary S. and Lisa W.. Laura B.
and Bill A. will be co-chairing the event.
2)
The next item of discussion was the Troop Trek (August 2 –9) and was led by
Emma S.. Emma elaborated how this event takes place every year and is a
high adventure trip. It is designed for stronger and faster individuals
and there are generally anywhere from 8 to 12 people in the group. It
will take place in the Trinity Alps in Northern California near Mount Shasta, a
beautiful but rugged wilderness area
with lakes and streams and mountain peaks over 8000 feet. You may contact
your Emma regarding the event if you and/or your son for more
information. It is essential that you wear sturdy, well-broken in hiking
books and properly sized and fitted back packs. An assessment will be
make to determine if you are up to
approximately 30 miles of backpacking over a 5 to 7 day period.
There will be a lot of uphill and downhill hiking included.
3)
Summer Camp is scheduled for July 13th through July 19th. There will be a
Mandatory Parent's Pre-Camp meeting on Monday July 7 at 7 PM at Trinity
Church. Just remember 07/07 at 7PM. Scouts with Camp Credits may be able to get a refund for
Summer Camp costs – see Treasurer Eric V. For anyone who is interested, Julie
D. has a list of events all the Merit Badges that summer camp has to
offer. It is also available on line. Summer camp offers a
tremendous opportunity and a time to earn up to 6 Merit Badges. Some of
them will be more challenging than others. There will also be free time
available for other things, but you can be kept very busy.
4)
Bill A. also mentioned that since the White Water Rafting trip had to be
postponed from it's original date of April 28th; now it will take
place this weekend (June 14th and June 15th) or on August 17th and August
18th. It will take place at Cache Creek. If you are not currently
signed up, you have the option of signing up for the August trip, but the cost
will be $140.00
5) SM Roger
H. announced that Edward D. will be new Senior Patrol Leader. He also
announced Patrick R., Hoi M., and Kyle S. as the 3 new Patrol Leaders.
Again these leaders can assist other scouts on focusing on the trail to First
Class and in obtaining Merit Badges.
